Project Update for December 6, 2019
Whatcom County and Razz Construction are pleased to announce that West Badger Road at Bertrand Creek has been opened to traffic today, Friday, December 6. Please note that the detour signs on both the local detour and truck detour routes will be removed which includes the temporary stop signs installed at the Loomis Trail Road/Berthusen Road intersection. In addition, there may be intermittent flagged one lane closures over the next couple of weeks as final project details are wrapped up.
We would like to thank everyone again for your patience as we worked to complete this important bridge replacement project.

Project Update for June 6, 2019
Construction activities will begin on site on Monday, June 24th. Accordingly, West Badger Road at the project site will be closed beginning Monday, June 24th. At that time the signed detour routes will be signed and in effect. We anticipate the closure continuing through December 2019.
Project Update for May 10, 2019
Construction of this project is anticipated to start in late June and continue through December 2019. West Badger Road will be closed at this location during construction with signed detour routes in place for both local traffic and trucks.
The construction contract for this project has been awarded to Razz Construction, Inc.
Location: West Badger Road at Bertrand Creek located approximately 1-mile west of Guide Meridian (SR 539).
Project Details: This project consists of replacing an existing 69-foot channel girder bridge on timber caps and piles. Work will also include approach slabs, roadway approach work and guard rail installation.
Project design, permitting and real estate work is complete and construction of this project is expected to begin in June 2019 and continue through December 2019.
Funding: $1,430,008 in Federal bridge funds have been obtained for construction of this project. Remaining funds needed to complete the project will come from the road fund.
Traffic Limitations: West Badger Road will be closed at this location during construction starting in June, 2019 and continuing through December, 2019. A signed detour will be in place during construction which will utilize Berthusen Road, Loomis Trail Road and Weidkamp Road for local traffic. The truck detour will include Guide Meridian (SR 539), Birch Bay Lynden Road and Sunrise Road.
